These pictures are all of our Appaloosa stallion, Secret Mr BarReed. This is his part of our brag page!
"Mister," as we call him, and the only name he has known, was owned by Karen and Jeff Richardson. They had purchased him at 1 1/2 years old, out of an old tobacco barn.
The Richardsons had 19 foals out of him by the fall of 1999 when Karen called me, wanting to know if I would be interested in purchasing him. She had seen me jumping my gelding, Gavelin S. S., at a BAAA show in Columbia, Missouri, and Karen felt I was a person who could bring out Mister's full potential.
We purchased Mister and Karen and Jeff delivered him on February 19th, 2000, green as green gets.
Mister is registered ApHC #531851, ICAA F-2 1799, and ApSHA #1419. He is Foundation Pedigree Deisignated 50%. He is a red dun with a dorsal stripe, and a nice big blanket with decent-sized spots. He is 15.3 hands high, about 1400 pounds, broad, big-boned, with a beautiful head. Mister's face markings are a large star, strip, and snip, which follows on to his under lip.
His foals, just like himself, are gentle, smart, eager to please, and have level heads. They are simple joys to work with, just like their sire.
Mister is easy to handle, and is a gentleman when it comes to breeding. We don't allow it any other way.
Out of his now 41 foals (as of 1-24-07) on the ground we have great color and dun percentages. When Appaloosa mares were bred to him, 97% of the foals had color. When non-Appaloosa mares were bred to him, 90% of the foals had color. We had one dun filly (R Secretary Zoom Zoom) by him in 2002. Click here to see our 2001 fillies, here to see our 2002 filly, here to see our 2003 foals, here to see our 2004 foals, here to see our 2005 foals, and here to see our 2006 foals!
Our 2011 breeding fee is $500, $7/day mare care and $9/day with a foal by her side. We will only breed with a live foal guarantee, and we have a breeding contract I am willing to send to you if you would like to look it over. We will love your mare like she is one of our own, and have nice, clean, safe stalls with runs for her to stay in. Secret Mr BarReed is paid up in the Breeders' Trust for the 2000 through 2011 breeding years. (It's a great program. If you are not familiar with the Breeders' Trust, contact me, or contact the ApHC. There is a lot of information about the program on their website. If you plan on showing at the Appaloosa shows, it is definitely worth it!)
In 2000 we ended the year of showing ApHC second in the nation in pre-green hunter (we lost first by 1/2 point)! We finished up with reserves in English horse at the Hutchinson, Kansas Appaloosa show, and pre-green hunter at the Broken Arrow Appaloosa Association show in Columbia, Missouri. We also were able to hit local shows periodically throughout the year, and we took home year end reserves in western stallion halter, registered horse halter, and showmanship.
We finished 2001 #1 in the nation in Green Hunter and Novice Non-Pro Hunter Hack, 3rd in Side Saddle, and in the top ten in Heritage and Non-Pro Working Hunter. We did a great job at the 2001 World show, again. Click here to check it out! Mister and I placed 10th in Non Pro Driving, 8th in Green Hunter, & Jewel, our wonderful grey mare, and I placed 7th in Green Hunter.
Stallion Hunter in Hand at World 2000. We placed 15th.
I almost turned down having this picture taken (it's one of my favorites)!
** As of 12-7-07, Mister was 19th in the world in leading sires of point earning halter foals, point earning hunter in hand foals, and 13th in the world in leading sires of point earning hunter in hand foals with first placings!!
** As of 12-31-09, Mister is 18th in the world in leading sires of point earning halter foals, 19th in the world in leading sires of point earning hunter in hand foals, 15th in the world in leading sires of halter class winners, and 14th in the world in leading sires of point earning hunter in hand foals with first placings!!
* If you have or know of a decent side saddle for sale, please, please contact me!! Thank you! *
We placed 5th in pre-green hunter.
In 2000 we placed 5th, with much help by our cheering crowd! Pictured are: Gerlinde Lewis (Lance's mom), Jackie Bargstedt Finegan, Kim Rumpsa on Secret Mr BarReed (owner/rider), Lola Abeln, Lance, Stephanie, Dillon, and Devin Lewis. Regretfully not pictured are: Ray and Kathee Glodowski, my "show parents" I never had.
In 2001 we brought home many more grands and reserves in regional Appaloosa clubs in Missouri. We even won a western trophy saddle for High Point Performance Horse in the Mo-Ark Appaloosa Club. That was a big surprise. That saddle has already been in three Christmas parades and many, many other events. We also brought home a reserve in western stallion halter from one of the local open shows (having hit 11 Appaloosa shows in 2001 it was hard to get to the local ones).
Thank you for taking the time to look and read. I hope you enjoyed checking this out as much as I did building it!
Please feel free to contact us any time. You can do so by emailing us at SpottedRump@juno.com, or clicking on the button at the bottom of this page. Our phone number is (636) 452-5521.

As of 12-20-2006, Secret Mr BarReed has earned his bronze, silver, and gold medallions!
For those of you who are not aware of the medallion system, there are four categories to earn medallions. The last category we would have the opportunity to earn a medallion, which is the diamond-studded medallion, would be in racing. Unfortunately, at this time we are not looking to race him, but it sure would be fun! NOTE: It seems Mister is the only living gold medallion earning stallion! (as of 9-6-07) ...(and still, as of 1-14-11)
Miater earned a second gold medallion in 2009.
Our App-solute Blast! show of the 2011 season is to be held on 10-16-11, in Fenton, Missouri. There is also one J Squared Lessons and Training gymkhana (10-14-11, starting at 6:00 PM). Show bills can be obtained by calling 636-305-9472.
Thanks, again, for visiting. You've been counted, because you do!
In 2006 we had the opportunity to represent the Appaloosa and the Plains Indians at the Oklahoma track by leading the post parade for the Appaloosas. Mister and I rode down the track at a walk and a slow trot (the race horses weren't wanting to walk, either). Victoria Ennis' horse won that race.
